Blue Ridge Mountains Couples Photos | Hannah Louise Photo

Truthfully, I think I’m biased. I grew up going to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and doing these couples photos for such a SPECIAL couple… insert two of my favorite things!! I photographed Bethanie & Sean’s couples boudoir session years ago, their wedding in Barbados, their honeymoon couples boudoir session, and now their one year anniversary photos! Seeing my couples through phases of their love and life is truly an honor. It’s one of the main reasons I stopped specializing in one specific niche. The relationships that have been built with my clients really matters to me. I want to be able to celebrate all of your seasons with you. Whether that means through boudoir, weddings, growing families, or anniversaries! Photography is built on relationships and trust.

This session was quite spontaneous in the fact that we knew we were going to a Skyline Drive lookout, but we allowed for time to follow the creativity! It was a gorgeous day and we stopped at a few different lookouts, stumbled across wildflowers, and let the day unfold naturally. The Blue Ridge Mountains made the perfect setting for their anniversary couples photos, with vast mountain views, winding roads, wildflowers, and that perfect crisp breeze and bright blue sky. There was no rushing to a certain spot and there was plenty of time to soak up the views. Nothing was forced, and we let the Blue Ridge Mountains become part of their story. These are the kinds of photos that are created when you trust your photographer.

I shot on multiple cameras during this session, digital, 35mm & 120mm film, and polaroids. The variety of colors, compositions and poses make this one of my favorite galleries to date. Film is so unique and beautiful and I think it brings this gallery to life. There’s something especially fitting about photographing the mountains on film! The slower process, the colors, the little imperfections, kind of exactly like the Blue Ridge Mountains were created! It all feels like a really natural match for the way I want couples photography to feel: nostalgic, honest, and a little bit wild.

I think that’s what I love most about sessions like this. You don’t need a perfectly planned location or a list of poses to create photographs that feel like you. In fact, the results are often MUCH more natural and you without these. Sometimes you just need a beautiful place, someone you love, and time to soak it all up.

If you’re dreaming of Blue Ridge Mountains couples photos, an elopement along Skyline Drive, or a super chill couples adventure in Virginia, I’d love to photograph it. Reach out here and let’s talk about your mountain photos!
