This mama to be is GLOWING! I hold maternity photos very close to my heart. They are so special to look back on when your little one arrives! I especially love the setting of Virginia Beach because I find the ocean to have very motherly energy. Standing in the water as the waves move around you, enjoying the magic of nature, while growing your own special little one! Enjoying the surf and the waves while photographing Taylor’s maternity photos was chaotically fun in the best way!
Virginia Beach is such a beautiful spot for maternity photos especially if you want something a little more wild and free. You probably don’t notice in the photos is that we were surrounded by people! Yep! It was a busy evening on the beach despite being cloudy and just passed sunset. I have developed great skills on positioning and cropping images so that it made us look like the only two people on the beach. You would never know looking at the photos!
The other thing I love about this session is that we were just passed sunset and it was cloudy. Usually, my go to for maternity photos is around golden hour to get that really pretty, glowy light. But, I am actually obsessed with the mood and blue hues for these photos! And the best part is that it is VERY Taylor. I love when the session turns out to be so unique on accident. It’s a good reminder that you don’t always need the perfect conditions for beautiful maternity photos. Sometimes embracing what’s given helps it turn out even better than you imagined. As a professional maternity photography, it is literally my job to make every circumstance turn out beautiful and unique!
While we were planning for this session, Taylor had originally chosen a different outfit. After receiving it in the mail, she decided she wasn’t comfortable in it. This is very important to note! Always make sure you try on and try out your outfit before committing it as “the one” for your session. You may change your mind! Being comfortable is the number 1 priority for choosing your outfit. Especially for maternity photos! Your body is growing and changing and you might not even realize what is comfortable anymore. You want to be able to sit, walk, get in the water and whatever else we end up doing without constantly thinking about your outfit.
Maternity photos are a more modern concept. Usually pregnancy wasn’t as celebrated or enjoyed, and i love that newer generations are seeing the beauty in it. So many photos are taken of the baby, the showers revolve around the baby, the congratulations are all centered around baby! And it is equally important to remember YOU’RE GROWING THE BABY! You are doing incredible things and your body is amazing. This season is beautiful and so are you. I am so grateful to have documented this gorgeous Virginia Beach Maternity Session!
